Kidney Problems as a Complication of Aortic Valve Replacement

Kidney Problems After Aortic Valve Replacement: An Overview

Moderate to severe kidney problems can occur in 7 out of 100 patients following aortic valve replacement; mild kidney problems can occur in as many as 20 out of 100 people. Most of the time these kidney problems are temporary, returning to normal within 7 days and causing no permanent damage; however, some patients that do develop kidney problems as a complication of aortic valve replacement go on to require chronic dialysis.
