Side Effects of Carvedilol CR

Dizziness, fatigue, and diarrhea are some of the common side effects of carvedilol CR seen in people with congestive heart failure. The most common problems seen in people taking this medication for high blood pressure include nausea and common cold symptoms. While most side effects of this drug are mild, some are potentially serious and require medical attention (such as wheezing, shakiness, or chest pain).

As with any medicine, carvedilol CR (Coreg CR^®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects Seen With Carvedilol CR

Some carvedilol CR side effects should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These side effects include, but are not limited to:

Unexplained swelling and sudden weight gain (see Coreg and Weight Gain) or difficulty breathing, which may be signs of worsening congestive heart failure
Unexplained skin rash
Itching
Wheezing
Difficulty swallowing
Chest pain
Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
Sweating, shaking, or extreme hunger
Confusion
An irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
