Closed Caption - Leaving the Hospital After Electrophysiologic Study

When you leave the hospital, you will be given specific instructions for driving, activity level, medication, and any further restrictions necessary.

It is normal and expected to have mild tenderness and pain around the catheterization entry site. Your leg or arm will feel sore. Also, expect a bruise surrounding the entry site, which may extend down your arm or leg.

A small amount of blood on the bandage and a nickel-sized lump at the catheter entry site is normal and will dissolve within 2 to 6 weeks.

Your doctor will go over any emergency symptoms that require immediate medical attention.
