Drug Interactions With Esmolol

Certain medications may cause esmolol drug interactions, including reserpine, verapamil, digoxin, and morphine. These interactions could affect the drug levels in your system and may increase your risk for developing dangerously low blood pressure, slow heart rate, or other potentially serious problems. In order to help prevent drug interactions, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking.

An Overview of Esmolol Drug Interactions

Esmolol hydrochloride (Brevibloc®) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to interactions with esmolol include:
 
  • Certain "pressor" medications that are sometimes used during surgery or emergency situations, including:

 

    • Dopamine (Intropin®)
    • Epinephrine (Adrenalin®, EpiPen®)
    • Norepinephrine (Levophed®)
