Heart Murmur Symptoms

In most cases, people with a heart murmur do not have any signs or symptoms. Some people, however, do have symptoms that signal a more serious heart condition. These symptoms may include chest pain, excessive sweating, fast breathing, and shortness of breath. Other heart murmur symptoms include dizziness, fainting, and fatigue.

Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Murmur: An Introduction

Most people with a heart murmur do not have any symptoms. The murmur is usually innocent (harmless). However, some people do have heart murmur symptoms that signify a more serious heart problem.
 
These symptoms may include:
 
  • Blue coloring of the skin, especially on the fingertips and inside the mouth
  • Poor eating and failure to grow normally (in infants)
  • Fast breathing
  • Excessive sweating
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fainting
  • Fatigue (feeling very tired).
