Other Drugs That Can Interact With Lanoxin

Calcitriol
Taking Lanoxin with calcitriol may increase your risk for serious side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Calcium Channel Blockers
Combining a calcium channel blocker with Lanoxin may increase your risk for serious side effects. In addition, certain calcium channel blockers (diltiazem and verapamil) may increase Lanoxin blood levels. Your healthcare provider may decide to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together.

Calcium Salts
Combining Lanoxin with calcium salts increases the risk for serious arrhythmias. This interaction is mostly a concern when calcium is given intravenously (by IV). However, it is still a good idea to let your healthcare provider know if you are taking any products that contain calcium.

Chemotherapy Medications
Certain chemotherapy medications may decrease the amount of Lanoxin absorbed into the body, potentially making it less effective. This interaction only occurs with Lanoxin tablets. Your healthcare provider may want to monitor your Lanoxin levels with a simple blood test, especially when you start or stop chemotherapy.

Cholestyramine
Cholestyramine may bind to Lanoxin in the gut, decreasing the amount of Lanoxin absorbed into the body. Separating the doses of the drugs by two or more hours may reduce the risk of this interaction, but will likely not completely eliminate it. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Colchicine
Lanoxin may increase the levels of colchicine in the body, increasing your risk for serious colchicine side effects. There have been reports of muscle damage, including a serious condition involving muscle fiber breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) when these medication were taken together. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Lanoxin with colchicine.
