Enoxaparin is prescribed to treat and prevent blood clots, as well as prevent various complications in people who have had certain cardiac events. This blood thinner works by slowing down clot formation, allowing the body to break down the clots naturally. Prior to using this medication, tell your healthcare provider if you have any allergies, a bleeding disorder, or high blood pressure.
What Is Enoxaparin?Enoxaparin (Lovenox®) is a prescription medication approved to prevent and treat blood clots. It is also approved to prevent complications in people who have recently had a heart attack or unstable angina (a type of chest pain that may indicate that a heart attack is imminent). It is given by injection just below the skin.
Are There Side Effects?As with any medicine, enoxaparin can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. Most people tolerate it quite well.
