Nexterone Drug Interactions

Methotrexate
Nexterone can increase blood levels of methotrexate, increasing the risk for side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before using these medicines together.

QT-Prolonging Medications
In general, Nexterone should not be combined with most medications that can cause QT prolongation (a certain change in the heart rhythm) unless absolutely necessary, due to the risk of a life-threatening arrhythmia.

Other Arrhythmia Medications
Nexterone can increase blood levels of other antiarrhythmia medicines, increasing the risk for side effects. In general, these medicines should only be used together in people who did not adequately respond to treatment with just one antiarrhythmia drug. If you must use Nexterone with another antiarrhythmic, your healthcare provider will give you lower-than-usual doses of the other antiarrhythmia medicine.

Trazodone
There have been reports of serious heart rhythm problems occurring in people who used Nexterone with trazodone. You should talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before using these medications together.

Verapamil
Nexterone should be used with caution in people using verapamil due to the risk for a dangerously low heart rate. Your healthcare provider will need to closely monitor you if you use these medicines together.

Warfarin
Nexterone is known to increase warfarin blood levels, increasing the risk for serious bleeding problems. Your healthcare provider will need to reduce your warfarin dose and monitor you more closely if you use these medicines together.

Final Thoughts

Not all Nexterone drug interactions were discussed in this article. Nexterone reacts with far too many other medicines to possibly include them all here. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the specific interactions that may apply to you.
