It is reasonable to expect that your doctor will have more information about your cardiac function and general condition from a TEE.

Through a TEE, your doctor can look at your heart valves, heart muscle, and major blood vessels in an attempt to determine if they are healthy. If you have an artificial heart valve, this can also be studied.

During the procedure, your doctor might discover clots in your heart that increase your risk for a stroke. With any discovery, your doctor will recommend further treatment options and medications if they are necessary.
